Fast Good Fracas – Need for 24/7 Police Station

Armadale MLA, Dr Tony Buti, said the brawl in Memorial Park last night and
the connected incident the week before would not have happened if we had a
24/7 police station and an increased police presence in Armadale.

“The Armadale Police Station is just metres away from where this brawl took
place – if it had been open I do not believe this fight involving around fifteen
people would have got out of hand the way it did,” he said.

“An open police station will always be a deterrent to those looking for an
opportunity to break the law.”

“I acknowledge there has been an increase in police numbers in the area, and
this is due in part to my advocacy,” he said.

“I also believe that the local police are doing an outstanding job under difficult
circumstances but the reality is that there simply are not enough of them on
the ground in Armadale.”

“The majority of Armadale residents are decent law abiding citizens and we
should not have to put up with the behaviour of the dysfunctional minority.”
“As a community we should be doing everything to encourage new
businesses into the area but pictures of smashed window fronts, brawling
youths and general anti-social behaviour is unhelpful.”

“I know I have said this time and time again but Armadale is a regional centre
with and ever growing community and must have its own district policing hub
and 24/7 police station.”
